Frederick Montessori Helps Little Feet in El Salvador

Lending helping hand. The concept of compassion, charity and love.

(Frederick, MD) Frederick Country Day Montessori & Arts School donated 88 pairs of gently used shoes for children—including sneakers, sandals, dress shoes, rain boots, Keds, flip flops, winter boots, and more—to an economically disadvantaged community in El Salvador.

Montessori teacher, Ms Liang-Yu (Leslie) Hwang, organizes this Community Service Project every Spring at Frederick Country Day.  She will ship these shoes to a community in El Salvador where she has visited in past years as part of a Mission trip.

Frederick Country Day is a local Montessori school that focuses on Peace education and the child as a citizen of the world. Children at FCD see and experience “helping others” as members of their classroom communities and through community service projects, like this one. They learn about how similar people’s needs are in their own community, in the Frederick area and in places way far away, like El Salvador.
